 Helpful InfoDoes the pro-union RN at work intimate you? Learn how to PUSH BACK. Tell your co-worker calmly and professionally that you do not want a union and you do not want to discuss it anymore. If they continue, it is harassment and there is hospital policy to back you up!

Do you really know the cost of a strike to you and your families? On the other hand, how long it will take to recuperate your losses? Feel free to calculate it for yourselves.

More importantly, do you know the real cost of a strike to the patient? In a recent article concerning the Temple Hospital strike in Philadelphia, the paper refers a recent study done by the National Bureau of Economics. "The authors, an MIT professor working with a Carnegie Mellon University student, found that in-hospital deaths rose by 19.4 percent and readmissions by 6.5 percent for patients treated during strikes." Have you done the math on your union dues to HPAE? And AFT? Only 3% comes back to the local! MOREOVER, you even get to give away your opinion on politics because you will now be paying toward HPAE's political agenda! (From the HPAE dues flyer, mailed out by the union treasurer.)

Did you know the ANA, (American Nurses Association), has a bill in front of congress for federal legislation on safe staffing and floating nurses to areas of expertise only. You didn't have to pay anything for it, (although you can join!), but you still have a voice in the outcome by writing your legislators! (read more)

Have you read, we mean really read, the constitution and by-laws that were recently voted in by ‘overwhelming majority’ per HPAE website. We are currently looking into filing a complaint with NTRW, (National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation), on some of the more blatant issues.

Remember, you are not a member if there is no contract and you have not voluntarily signed a union card.
